Senior IT Project Manager

Location: Chicago, IL | Hybrid — three days onsite per week

Engagement: Contract | Anticipated 30–40 hours per week

Jones Grove is seeking a hands-on IT Project Manager to support an enterprise technology team managing a changing mix of projects and priorities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to ambiguous situations, takes initiative, and consistently follows through. You’ll work closely with technology leaders, business stakeholders, and external vendors to clarify priorities, resolve obstacles, and move work through completion.

What you’ll do

• Bring organization and direction to projects at different stages, including work with incomplete plans or unclear ownership.
• Establish practical project plans, priorities, milestones, and accountability.
• Maintain a consistent cadence of stakeholder communication, status updates, and follow-ups.
• Track dependencies, risks, open decisions, and action items—and actively drive them toward resolution.
• Coordinate internal teams and external vendors, challenging unrealistic timelines and escalating issues with clear recommendations.
• Support technology implementations, application migrations, process improvements, and integration-related initiatives.
• Help technology leadership prepare for meetings, resolve competing priorities, and translate decisions into action.
• Confirm deliverables are complete and ensure effective project closeout and handoff.

What we’re looking for

• Demonstrated success managing a variety of enterprise IT projects.
• Experience taking ownership of loosely defined or stalled work and creating a clear path forward.
• Strong organization, communication, and follow-through, with the ability to work independently.
• Confidence working with senior leaders, technical teams, business partners, and vendors.
• Practical judgment about when to investigate, bring people together, or escalate.
• Ability to maintain momentum as priorities and project scope change.

Helpful experience

• IT service delivery, acquisition integration, application consolidation, or organizational change.
• Building or improving project governance and delivery processes.
• Cybersecurity, identity and access management, or governance, risk, and compliance projects.
• PMP or comparable project management credentials.

Success in this role means making priorities clear, keeping stakeholders informed, and getting work completed without requiring repeated direction or reminders.
